The area you choose shapes everything from how easily delegates arrive to what you will pay for dinner. These are the ones we source across most, and what each is good for.
Riverbank and North Terrace
Everything a conference needs within a few minutes of itself: the convention centre, InterContinental, SkyCity and Eos, the Festival Centre and Adelaide Oval. Individual hotels are mid sized, so blocks above about 400 rooms split.
Victoria Square
When the whole event should live in one building. Amora gives you 380 rooms, nineteen meeting rooms and a 780 theatre ballroom on a single conference floor, on the tram line.
East End and Botanic Gardens
Character rather than scale. The National Wine Centre and the parklands edge, with Rundle Street dining a short walk away and no accommodation on site.
Wayville
Only when the numbers force it. Two pavilions combining to 17,250 square metres, no accommodation, and shuttles from the city as the price of that floor area.
Adelaide Hills
A group that should leave the city but stay inside forty minutes. Hahndorf carries a purpose built conference building with accommodation adjacent, and the estates around it suit board offsites.
Barossa and McLaren Vale
Where wine is the point and the group sleeps on site. Novotel Barossa is the only property in the valley with enough rooms to hold a whole conference, at a stated maximum of 250.

No destination is right for every brief, and the useful conversation is about where the limits are. These are the ones that change a Adelaide program most often.
February and March are the hardest dates to hold
Adelaide Fringe, the Adelaide Festival and WOMADelaide overlap across late February and March, and both rates and availability tighten sharply across the city. January carries the Tour Down Under and March also carries LIV Golf. Events do run in those windows, but they are booked earlier and they cost more, so bring us the dates first and we will tell you what is still open rather than guessing from a calendar.
Scale and walkability are not available in the same place
Everything above about 3,000 in one room sits at Wayville, outside the walkable Riverbank hotel cluster. Below that threshold Adelaide is unusually compact. Above it, it stops being a walk everywhere city and becomes a coaching exercise.
A true single hotel residential conference caps at about 400
No Adelaide hotel publishes a ballroom above 800 theatre, and the largest properties sit around 380 rooms. Above roughly 400 delegates staying overnight, the program is a multi property block whatever the plenary room says.
Adelaide punches above its size, and it is worth knowing why.
