Mornington and Mount Eliza
The northern gateway, and the shortest transfer at about sixty minutes from the city. The racecourse holds the largest rooms in the region but no accommodation of scale, so delegates commute from Melbourne or stay further down the Peninsula.
Red Hill and Main Ridge
A leadership retreat that wants to be off grid and among vines. Lindenderry gives 40 rooms plus a 200 theatre room in one place; Montalto and Port Phillip Estate give dining and boardroom work with no meaningful bed stock. No public transport at all, so coaching is compulsory.
Merricks and Flinders
Small premium groups and the food and wine element. Jackalope, Pt. Leo Estate and Flinders Hotel sit here. Flinders is the longest drive from the city at about ninety minutes, so a group based here loses most of a working day at each end.
Cape Schanck and Fingal
When the program is genuinely residential and needs one site. RACV Cape Schanck at 204 rooms and Peppers Moonah Links at 65 are the whole inventory, at about seventy five minutes from the city, which is the best compromise between capacity and transfer time.
Sorrento and Portsea
A two night senior program that wants a village, a beach and a spa within walking distance of the meeting room. It is the deepest point in the region, and the only precinct where the Queenscliff ferry, a forty minute vehicle crossing, opens a second arrival route.
Rye and Rosebud
Accommodation overflow and activity supply rather than a conference base. Motel and apartment stock, sitting between the Fingal resorts and Sorrento, which makes it useful for bridging a split group by coach.

The biggest room and the beds are in different places
The highest capacity room in the region sits at a racecourse with no accommodation, and the properties with beds top out at 204 rooms. Any program combining a large plenary with a winery dinner is a two site program with coaching built in from the start.
The premium venues restrict weekends by policy, not price
Pt. Leo Estate permits weekend exclusivity on only four days a calendar year, and Jackalope publishes corporate rates Monday to Thursday only. Weekday dates are the realistic ask at the top of this market, and it is better to know that before a board sets a Friday.
Melbourne Airport is on the wrong side of the city
The bureau’s sixty to ninety minute drive times are from the CBD, and the airport adds a city crossing on top. For a one day meeting with flown in attendees the Melbourne CBD wins on every measure, and we would tell you so.
The Peninsula is an exclusive use region, and that is what it is for.
