Four dedicated event levels in the middle of the CBD, opposite the Queen Victoria Building. The Grand Ballroom is 806 square metres with a six metre ceiling and takes 1,100 theatre. It divides into two soundproof halves, and the level one floor adds ten smaller rooms.

Hilton publishes fourteen room categories for this hotel and no total room count, which is unusual at this size. If the program needs a block, the count and the rate bands both have to come from the hotel directly.

Above 1,100 in one room, Sydney runs out of hotels and the answer becomes a purpose built venue. Each figure below is read from that venue’s own published material. This is not a survey of the whole Sydney market, only the rooms we checked to make sure nothing on this page overstates the building.

Recent changes
Hilton’s own pages disagree with each other. The level three page gives the Grand Ballroom as 806 sqm and 1,100 theatre. The parent facilities page says 1,200 theatre, and hilton.com gives a largest setup of 920 sqm. Total event space is published as more than 4,000 sqm in two places and 3,786 sqm in a third, and the exhibition hall as 48 booths in one place and 100 in another. We use the level three page and hilton.com as current and treat the parent page as legacy. Confirm before it reaches a shortlist.
The restaurant is chef led, so the billing moves. Glass Brasserie now carries a different chef attribution to the one it was known by for years. The room has not changed. Any proposal quoting the chef will date faster than the venue does.

What size event can it hold?
The Grand Ballroom is 806 square metres with a six metre ceiling and seats 1,100 theatre, 500 for a banquet, 700 cocktail and 600 cabaret. It divides into two soundproof halves, each of which can take its ante room as well.
How many event spaces are there?
Twenty eight across four dedicated event levels, and more than 4,000 square metres in total. Hilton publishes a full capacity chart for level one and for the Grand Ballroom on level three. Levels two and four are described but their capacities sit only in PDFs.
What is the screen situation?
The Grand Ballroom carries a fixed LED wall of 22 metres by 3 metres, which Hilton describes as the largest in a New South Wales hotel. For a wide staged plenary that removes the usual argument about screen size and sightlines.
How many guest rooms are there?
Hilton does not publish a total. It publishes fourteen room categories and no count, which is unusual for a hotel of this size and worth asking about before you hold a block.
Is it big enough for a large conference?
For most things, yes. Above 1,100 theatre in a single room the options in Sydney are ICC Sydney, Sydney Showground and Sydney Town Hall rather than a hotel.
